David and Goliath

David, a young shepherd with a fearless heart, broke a record in the Bible and was used by God to do what seemed impossible to men.

David grew up in Israel during the reign of King Saul, the first king of Israel. He was born into Jesse's family and was made to tend to the sheep while his brothers were sent to war. While he cared for the sheep, he became closer to God; he drew strength from God even as he killed two wild animals with his bare hands. He killed a lion and a bear that attempted to harm his sheep.

Jesse asked David to take food supplies to his brothers, who had gone to the battlefield.

Upon his arrival, he discovered that there was a giant named Goliath who had sworn to defy the God the Israelites serve and also destroy them all if they didn't bring forth a champion to fight him. Every soldier in Israel had lost courage because of the size of Goliath, for he was so gigantic.

Oh, how David courageously demanded a chance to fight the giant Goliath, and this courage, plus God's grace upon David's life, made King Saul give his consent to David with a simple prayer: "Go, and the Lord be with you." He also gave him his own weapons of war, but David rejected them all as he had not mastered such weapons; instead, he went to the battlefield with a sling and some stones.

With the help of the Spirit, he threw a stone at Goliath, and it miraculously sent him to the ground. God gave David and the Israelites victory in the war.

Writers' Note: What you see as a giant can be conquered with the help of God, who is ever ready to assist His own children. I am His own; I hope you are too. If you are not, pray the prayer of salvation below.

Affirmation: I am strengthened to face every giant courageously. Amen.

Prayer of Salvation: Heavenly Father, thank you for my life; I lay it down at Your feet. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again on the third day.  I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Use me from this day onwards. Amen.

Now you are saved, Hallelujah!!! Write to me if you prayed this prayer. God bless you
